The Advanced Nutrition Programme™ state-of-the-art Research Centre is equipped with gold-standard skin analysis equipment used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical R&D, independent testing laboratories and dermatological research centres worldwide.
This technology allows our Experts to measure parameters such as skin hydration, elasticity and TEWL (Trans-Epidermal Water Loss), alongside other skin evaluation measures.

Our experts
Lorraine Perretta | Head of Nutrition
Lorraine, our Head of Nutrition, has over 30 years of industry experience, travelling globally to research innovations and educate skincare professionals. Alongside her role at Advanced Nutrition Programme™, she is a Senior Clinical Nutritionist at a London clinic and author of Brain Food.
She is a Fellow at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition and a member of BANT and CNHC. Lorraine speaks at major skin health conferences and regularly shares her expertise on social media.
David Alpert | Managing Director
David, our Managing Director and co-founder, has over 30 years of experience in professional skincare and launched the Advanced Nutrition Programme™ in 2006. As a passionate marine photographer and advocate for sustainability, he rebranded the range in 2017, introducing recycled and recyclable packaging.
He prioritises plant-based ingredients where possible, full traceability, purified fish oils, and invested in climate-controlled packaging processes for quality.
Science of skin
The skin is one of the largest organs in the body in surface area and weight. An understanding of skin biology and structure helps showcase how nutrition plays a pivotal role in skin health. Human skin consists of two main layers: the epidermis and the dermis. Beneath the dermis lies the hypodermis and subcutaneous fatty tissue.
- The epidermis is the relatively thin, tough outer layer of the skin that helps protect internal organs, muscles, blood vessels and nerves.
- The dermis is a thicker layer of fibrous and elastic tissue (made mostly of collagen, with a component of elastin) which gives the skin flexibility and strength. It contains nerve endings, sweat glands, oil glands, hair follicles and blood vessels.
- Beneath the dermis lies a layer of fat that helps insulate the body, provides protective padding and serves as an energy storage area.
The skin has three main functions: protection, regulation and sensation.
Our journey to becoming a clean label
Advanced Nutrition Programme™ is committed to the environment and on a continuous journey to clean label. Our Managing Director, David Alpert, is a passionate marine photographer who, after witnessing damage to marine ecosystems, made the decision to re-brand the range and introduce recycled and recyclable paper-based packaging in 2017.
We prioritise plant-based ingredients where possible, full traceability of ingredients, purified fish oils, and continued investment in climate-controlled packaging environments to support quality control.
